successful laser hair removal

Secrets to successful laser hair removal.

Shaving, waxing, plucking hairs can require a lot of time, and money to achieve the smooth skin that most of us are after. If you are thinking of starting laser hair removal treatments or are already being treated, it’s a good idea to know what to do to achieve the best results in the fastest time possible. Below we’ve outlined a few tips and tricks that will help you maximize your laser hair treatments so that you get the best results and experience possible.

Successful laser hair removal requires multiple treatments.

To successfully eliminate hair with laser treatments, you will be required to schedule several sessions. Because lasers can only destroy hair that is in the anagen phase or actively growing, which is why it’s required you get multiple treatments to effectively remove hair from the target area.

Depending on the area, treatments will range anywhere from four to eight weeks apart. The time between appointments will give the hair enough time to transition to the active growth phase for hair removal lasers to target them effectively.

Repeat treatments are a necessity.

Solely dependent on the area. You will require multiple treatments that range anywhere from 5 to 35 minutes. Just because you see significant hair reduction in your first couple of visits does not mean you can skip other treatments and successfully eliminate the hair. It will come back! So, it is extremely important that you do all laser treatments you’ve got on the schedule.

Shave the laser treatment area 24 hours prior to your next appointment.

Most of you will already know this as repeat customers, but in case you forgot. It is extremely important that you shave the area we are treating 24 hours prior to your appointment. You want to remove as much hair as possible so the laser can effectively target and eliminate the hair follicle.

Limit your sun exposure before and after laser treatments.

To get the best results from your laser hair treatments you will want to limit your sun exposure before and after your treatments. Laser treatments tend to work best on skin that isn’t tanned and hair that hasn’t been sun-bleached.

Your skin will be sensitive after your treatment, making you more susceptible to sun damage than you typically are. If you expect sun exposure after your treatment use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and wear a wide brimmed hat (if treatments were facial).

Take care of your skin after your laser hair removal treatments.

  • DO NOT pluck or wax hair on the treated area.
  • Wait to exfoliate a week or two after your treatment.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for two to three weeks after treatments. If exposure is a must, wear sunblock of at least 30 SPF.
  • Although it may not sound great, avoid deodorant for a few days after laser treatments for underarm hair.
  • If you’ve had laser treatments for facial hair it is best to avoid makeup for 48 hours and let your face go bare. This is another benefit to permanent makeup.
  • Avoid scolding hot baths and showers for 48 hours.
